Ingredients
400g Yam
1/4 tsp Turmeric
Salt to taste
For Grinding ( masala )
1 200g fresh coconut, grated
3-4 Green Chillies
1 tsp Cumin seeds
1/2 tsp Black pepper
Season with
2 tsp Coconut Oil
1 tsp Mustard seeds
3-4 Curry Leaves
Instructions
1.Scrap the skin of yam.
2.Chop them into bit sized pieces.
3.Keep Yam pieces immersed in water till ready to use .
4.Transfer the chopped yam pieces into a pan . Add a tsp of salt , turmeric and around 1 cup of water . Cover and cook it .
1. In a mixer grinder ,along with cumin, pepper, green chilli and grind to a coarse paste adding 2-3 tablespoon of water
2. If yam is cooked . . mash them lightly using the laddle
3. To the mashed yam pieces, add the masala, salt
4. Sprinkle a little water
5. Keep the flame on low and cover and cook for 3/4 minutes so that all the flavors are infused.
6. Seasoning : Add coconut oil. When it is hot, add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add curry leaves and switch off.
7. Garnish with grated coconut and Yam Elaserry is ready to be served
